WHAT YOUR INNER TRUTHS TELL YOU ABOUT CREATING MUSIC with Kasey Holt

by Clair Condit and Allie Tyler | The Musician on Purpose Podcast

This week on The Musician on Purpose Podcast…

Have you ever felt like you’re just trudging through your music career almost in a routine-like fashion? Maybe you’re feeling lonely, or confused, or simply drained from trying to make music the generator of your happiness and well being.

We’ve got a really special conversation that is sure to inspire you – no matter where you’re at in your musical career.

Today’s guest is LA based musician Kasey Holt. A classical violinist, Kasey followed her curiosities and found herself in the realm of jazz music where she was challenged to improvise on her violin – something that felt foreign as a classical musician. But with that experience, she was able to start hearing her own voice, permitting her to think and feel outside of the box, using music as her expressive vehicle. By acknowledging and honoring her true feelings, she was able to write and record a personal album called “Letting.”

Kasey’s story is raw, real, and incredibly deep. Tune in to this week’s episode to learn why facing your inner truths – the good, the bad, and the ugly – is the key to creating music from the heart.

Episode takeaways:

  • Why expression is an important tool in music education
  • The power of loneliness and being honest about your inner pain
  • What your feelings can tell you about music
  • Why happiness and music needs to sleep
  • Finding creative outlets outside of the musical arena
  • How to freely express yourself without the confines of a musical genre
